Birmingham Rockets are delighted to announce the return of Luke ‘Blockosieme’ ahead of the 2025/26 British Championship Basketball season.
The 6’9″ pivot made headlines across the country last season, with his 69 blocks good enough for second overall in a Division One season ever, behind Patrick Bates for the Worthing Thunder in 2005/26 (78).
The story so far…
Luke will be entering into his second season of his second spell at the club after previously turning out for Rockets in our 2022/23 promotion-winning campaign.
Luke headed back down south for the following season, as he signed for former British Basketball League (BBL) side Surrey Scorchers for the 2023/24 season.
Originally a high jumper, Luke represented England at U17, U18 & U20 level before transitioning to basketball.
He played his first season of basketball out in Portugal before moving to Birmingham in the summer of 2022.
His final game in his first spell at Rockets came in the Division Two Playoff Final at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester, where he would cap off an incredible season with 11 points and 9 rebounds as Rockets lifted the trophy.

“It’s a blessing to be back in Birmingham”
We caught up with Luke for his thoughts ahead of the new season after committing to the club for our inaugural British Championship Basketball (BCB) campaign.
“It’s a blessing to be back in Birmingham for another year,” Luke said.
“The support that I’ve received here from coaches, teammates, staff, and fans has made this an ideal place to continue my basketball career and take my game to the next level.
“I’m grateful to be able to contribute to the impact that this club will have on the city and the sport in this inaugural British Championship Basketball season.”
