Rockets are pleased to launch a new community initiative to provide our Rockets members and Nechells residents aged 11-16 with basketball opportunities and personal development support.
Also open to our Rockets members and Nechells residents, the Rockets Youth Club will offer a flexible, multi-use safe space for youngsters in our community.
With a host of activities on offer and field specialists on hand to teach our young people new life skills, we are excited about the impact this project will have on the local community.
With a significant amount of club activity based at Nechells Wellbeing Centre, we recognise the importance of providing opportunties for the young people residing in the local area.
This new initiative, funded by The National Lottery Million Hours Fund, will be free for local residents and will include access to basketball training, leadership development and mentoring support as part of a comprehensive programme to provide opportunities for Nechells residents.
The Million Hours Fund is a £22 million jointly funded initiative from the Department for Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) and The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK. The programme funds organisations to provide positive activities for young people in areas with high levels of antisocial behaviour.
Sessions will be led by Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Hometown Hero Ricardo D’Alva and our dedicated team of club and community coaches to provide particiants with a rounded experience complete with special guest workshops.
