Faaris Mughal Returns For 2025/26!

Birmingham Rockets are pleased to announce the return of Faaris Mughal to our men’s first team roster ahead of the 2025/26 British Championship Basketball (BCB) season.

Faaris started his basketball journey with us at Rockets and has earned his place on the roster for the upcoming campaign after impressing Coach Smith last season.

Faaris grew into his role last season and became a significant contributor to the team in last season’s run-in, contributing double digits in points scored in three of our final five outings, including 17 against Bradford in March and 19 against Derby Trailblazers on the final day of the season.

The story so far…

Faaris joined Rockets aged 12, progressing through our Under 14s, 16s & 18s before being selected for our men’s first team ahead of the 2021/22 season.

After a season of playing in the second division, Faaris departed to continue his development in the USA before moving back to England to attend university while playing for Teeside Lions in Division Two.

Faaris would go on to thrive in the northeast, his most notable outing being a 43-point performance in just 26 minutes against Leicester Warriors back in February 2024.

Since re-joining Rockets last summer, Faaris has gone on to prove himself to head coach Charles Smith with his deadly shooting, work ethic and resilience all traits that he demonstrated throughout the course of last season.

Faaris appeared in all 24 league games last season, starting three times, and averaging 5.7 points per game from 11.3 minutes per game.

“This is where it all started for me!”

We caught up with Faaris for his thoughts ahead of his return this season.

“Returning to the Rockets always feels special because this is where it all started for me,” Faaris explained.

“To represent the biggest club in Birmingham and play so close to home is something I don’t take for granted.

“I’m excited to keep growing in my career while making sure we make the city proud and with the talent and energy in the team, I’m confident we can compete at a high level and make a real impact this season in British Championship Basketball!”

The continuation of a long-running association with the club…

Rockets Founder & CEO, Robert Palmer, expressed his delight at Faaris’ return and is excited to see him continue to impress in the season ahead.

“I am delighted that Faaris is back with us for the new season!“, he said.

“Over the past year, he’s made huge strides in his game, and we can’t wait to see our hometown Rockets junior graduate make a big impact on the roster this season!”
