Rockets In Review: September

In this series of articles, we take a look back at our 2021/22 season; focussing on the highlights from a memorable campaign across the club.

Our Men’s First Team got the season started with a trip to University of Worcester Arena to take on Worcester Wolves in NBL Cup action.

A new look Rockets side got off to a blistering start in Coach Douglas’ first game at the helm, racing to a 21-8 first quarter lead.

Worcester rallied back to open up a 58-50 lead heading into the fourth with Rockets facing an uphill task against the former BBL outfit.

A gritty fourth-quarter display saw us slowly chip away at Worcester’s lead as the quarter wore on, with our hosts looking to have the game wrapped up as they held the ball with the clock expiring.

Rockets pushed for a Worcester mistake, which duly came, as Wolves turned the ball over to give us one last chance to rescue the game.

One point behind, one last chance to flip the game back in our favour.

Rockets pushed the ball across the court from left to right as we looked for one last opening; Nathan Ramsdale-Owen laid the ball off to Jordan Dawes who hit an off-balance mid-range jump shot with hands in his face on the buzzer to spark pandemonium amongst the Rockets bench whilst silencing the packed Worcester Arena.
