Match Preview: City of Birmingham Rockets vs Leicester Warriors

City of Birmingham Rockets return to Nechells Wellbeing Centre tomorrow evening for our highly anticipated local derby clash with Leicester Warriors, tip-off 19:30.

There are sure to be fireworks on and off the court as we look to extend our unbeaten start to the league season and make it six wins from six to start the 2022/23 campaign.

Rockets player/coach Martyn Gayle played for Leicester from 2018-21, adding an extra layer of intrigue to tomorrow’s game.

Recent Form

Rockets are yet to lose in league competition this season, with last weekend’s 91-70 win away at Doncaster seeing us remain as the division’s only unbeaten team.

Coach Gayle’s side have won each league game by double digits, with strong third quarter displays key to our fast start to the campaign.

With five home games to come before the winter break, Rockets look primed to enter the new year on a strong footing should we continue to make home advantage count in the coming weeks.

The Opposition

Leicester have endured a mixed start to the season since relegation from Division One last season, winning two and losing three of their opening five games.

After winning their opening game of the season against Doncaster Eagles, Warriors endured a three-game losing stretch before returning to winning ways last time out against Nottingham Trent Hoods by way of an 83-62 home success.

They will be looking to build some momentum after a slow start and will undoubtedly pose a threat tomorrow evening.
