City of Birmingham Rockets are delighted to announce that guard Lucas McGregor has committed to the club for the upcoming 2026/27 British Championship Basketball (BCB) season.
Lucas returns for his third consecutive campaign in Birmingham, bringing vital experience, defensive toughness and scoring depth back to Head Coach Charles Smith’s backcourt as the Rockets look to build on a landmark 2025/26 campaign.
The Story So Far…
Lucas originally joined the Rockets ahead of the 2024/25 season from Irish Super League outfit Flexachem Killorglin. Before his spell in Ireland, he established himself as a standout guard for Worcester Wolves, leading them to promotion to NBL Division Two, after initially progressing through the ranks at Shropshire Warriors.
Since arriving in Birmingham, McGregor has been a consistent fixture in the squad:
2024/25 Season: Featured in all 24 league games during his debut season, averaging 9.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, highlighted by a 22-point double-double performance at Utilita Arena Birmingham.
2025/26 Season: Played a pivotal role in the club’s most successful silverware-winning season to date, helping the Rockets capture the inaugural British Championship Basketball Trophy in Nottingham and secure a spot in the BCB Playoff Semifinals.

“I’m glad to be back at the club!
“Coming off a great season, I’m excited to get back to work and build on what we achieved last year.
“I am looking forward to the season ahead and seeing what we can accomplish!”
