BMet Rockets Academy Graduate Reuben Ubogu Commits To Webber University In USA

City of Birmingham Rockets would like to congratulate BMet Rockets Academy graduate Reuben Ubogu on his commitment to Webber International University (FL, USA) ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Reuben played a key role for our Elite Academy Basketball League (EABL) team in the past two seasons, averaging 14.6 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game and 2.3 steals per game last season.

Reuben played a starring role in our EABL classification matchup against Coppleston in March, recording 26 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists as Rockets ran out 106-99 winners.

He also represented Rockets in Romania back in November in the European Youth Basketball League (EYBL), where he picked up the team MVP award.

He also represented our men’s first team in the KitKing Trophy in the 2023/24 season.

Speaking on his commitment to play in Florida next season, Reuben said: “I just want to thank the coaching staff for always pushing me to be my best.

“They believe in us, support us in every way they can, and genuinely want the best for each of us.

“I’m grateful for everything they’ve done to help me on this journey.”

Coach Ricardo D’Alva, who has worked with Reuben at EABL & Under 18 level in the last couple of years, said: “It’s been a real pleasure to coach Reuben over the past two years.

He joined the U19 EABL team at the Rockets Academy and the U18 Premier team and, through hard work and perseverance, earned his place. His discipline, attitude, and relentless drive to improve stood out every single day.

I truly hope I was able to support and guide him along the way, seeing him grow and now earn this incredible opportunity makes me proud and excited for what’s ahead. Well deserved, Reuben!”

Rockets Technical Director, Paul Douglas, added: “It’s been a pleasure working with Rueben for the past two seasons.

“He is a true example of what a student athlete should be. Rarely misses a session or class and has held a 96% attendance rate for the time he has been here.

“This is his reward for the hard work and dedication he has put in, and I’m very proud of him.

“We have had a number of players earn Individual honours this season, which shows that we are moving in the right direction as a programme.
