City of Birmingham Rockets Basketball Club are pleased to announce that Matt Gaskell will remain in position as Under-14 Boys Conference Head Coach for the 2022/23 season.
Matt led the team to an eighth-place finish in the Under-14 Boys Midlands league last season and is looking forward to getting to work with a new group in 2022/23.
Speaking ahead of his appointment, Matt said, “I am really looking forward to continuing my work with the Under-14 Boys Conference team this season.
“Obviously I will have a new group of players this year but I am excited to get started”.
Technical Director, Paul Douglas, explained why he felt Matt was the obvious choice to stay on as Head Coach of the Under-14 Boys Conference team.
He said, “Matt demonstrated his value with regards to working with young players transitioning into the performance programme last season.
“We saw excellent individual and team progression which was a credit to his abilities and dedication to his team.
“As a player that grew up from 12-years-old with the club, Matt understands what it means to represent the club and embodies the culture that we are driving throughout the organisation.
“This is a great appointment for the club and I’m really pleased to see Matt return”.
