Rockets In The Community: West Heath Primary School

A cohort of Rockets players and coaches descended upon West Heath Primary School for a fantastic afternoon of basketball fun!

As part of our commitment to engage the young people in our local community, our players and coaches assisted school staff with an outdoor basketball tournament.

The initiative reflects our joint mission to increase participation in basketball from a young age.

The children were joined by men’s first team head Coach Nuno Rodrigues (above), women’s first team assistant coach Peter Mintoft, community coaches Ethan Woodward & Matthew Gaskell and a host of our BMet Rockets Academy players.

With the children having visited us for our game night on Saturday 16th March the excitement was evident with the youngsters now taking to the court to showcase their skills in what proved to be a highly competitive afternoon of basketball!

It proved to be a great afternoon of basketball with the weather holding up whilst our academy players did a fantastic job of engaging the youngsters, officiating their games and even teaching the children a new skill or two!

Thanks to West Heath Primary School for inviting us into school – we are looking forward to providing further basketball opportunities for the young people in the area very soon – we hope you all enjoyed the day!

The South Birmingham school are set to be the latest to join us as one of our Rockets Basketball Hubs with new activity set to begin at the school after the Easter break – click here for details!
