Rockets In Review: November

November was a month of progression across the club with a number of sides recording memorable results in a busy month of action.

Our Under-12 Mixed team got our first win of the month on the opening Saturday as they edged Leicester Riders Black 43-41 at Nechells Wellbeing Centre.

It was the turn of our Under-18 Men to claim a dramatic win of their own just one day later as they eliminated Liverpool Basketball from the National Cup by way of a 102-100 scoreline.

Elsewhere, our Men’s First Team would record a memorable victory of their own away at Bristol Academy Flyers after a fast start by Rockets stunned our hosts.

Rockets led 25-8 at the end of the first and Bristol struggled to recover, with eventual MVP Nathan Ramsdale-Owen putting up eighteen points as we recorded the first of back-to-back wins against Bristol based opposition.

A win against Bristol Hurricanes followed seven days later as an understrength Hurricanes side were dismantled 87-49 at Nechells Wellbeing Centre.

Earlier that day, our Under-14 Premier side beat Leicester Riders 89-55 at Morningside Arena in another strong Rockets performance.

That Sunday it was the turn of our Rockets Under-16 Girls side to head to Morningside Arena and they too would also come away with a win, claiming a 67-55 success courtesy of a strong defensive display.

The final weekend of the month saw our Women’s First Team travel to the Manchester Basketball Centre to face the high-flying Manchester Mystics.

Coach Mintoft’s side came close to pulling off an unlikely upset, trailing by just one heading into the fourth; but we were unable to build on our 21-point third quarter display as we slipped to an unfortunate defeat to round off the month’s fixtures.
