Rockets BMet Academy Enters European Youth Basketball League (EYBL)

Birmingham Rockets are pleased to confirm that our elite basketball academy at BMet College will be competing in the U20 European Youth Basketball League (EYBL) this season.

Formed in 1998, The European Youth Basketball League is the most prestigious and only FIBA certified youth league in Europe and our entry will expose selected players at the Rockets BMet Academy to high level competition from across the continent.

Rockets have been drawn in Group C of the Under 20 competition and will be facing off against teams from Italy, Germany, Sweden, Ireland & Romania.

Rockets will be travelling to Bucharest, Romania in November of this year and February of next year for the tournaments.

Rockets Technical Director, Paul Douglas, believes the addition of European competition will be a game changing addition to our academy offering.

He said: “This is a very exciting addition to our competition calendar as we have wanted to include an international schedule to our programme for some years now.

“The European Youth Basketball League (EYBL) will provide a set of challenging games against quality competition from different countries and I know from personal experience how this can sharpen the focus and determination of our student athletes and coaching staff to reach new heights.

“This is just the start of many exciting opportunities that we will be providing for our performance players and staff throughout the club and we are looking forward to our first set of league games Romania this November.”
