Birmingham Rockets are pleased to see first team players Michelle Turner and Martyn Gayle recognised in the NBL Division Two end of season awards.
Turner took the Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolade for Division Two Pool 2 in the WNBL awards – with Fabienne Zere a deserved runner up.
In the Men’s Division Two North, Gayle picked up the Coach of the Year award for leading our men to an outstanding 21-1 regular season and securing top spot in his first year as a coach.
Gayle also took his place in the Team of the Season with a number of our men’s team narrowly missing out on the honour.
With both of our first teams going on to win their respective divisions before progressing to this Saturday’s playoff finals, we are extremely proud of all of our players, coaches and staff who have worked tirelessly to put Birmingham basketball firmly back on the map.
We would like to congratulate all of the award winners across the leagues – the 2022/23 season will be one to look back on fondly for all of us here at Rockets!
