Following a short pre season a raw group of Under 18 Conference players struggled as a unit during the first half of the season.

A change of style during the Christmas break was implemented with more varied strategies employed. The team played a mixture of defensive systems forcing opponents to work harder to score.

The players embraced this and developed a strong bond, addressing their own individual fears and stopped thinking and playing as individuals but playing as a team wanting to win.

With this growth in the team mind-set the players as a unit focussed on their own strengths.

It’s an achievement which the team and club are proud of and showed the development and progress the players had made individually and as a team.

Coach Branch added, ‘Thank you to all the players who all made a massive contribution to the success of the U18 conference team. I must also express my appreciation and gratitude to the professional support provided by Sasha Taylor our Team Manager.

It’s an understatement that she kept me in check throughout the season organising the travel arrangements, team kit, videos and the most important team events, though I still picked up a number of technical fouls!!

I must also give a massive ‘thank You’ to Raj who took time out from his busy schedule with the Premier team to drive the mini-bus and take us to the away games. This was much appreciated and demonstrated the true ‘more than a club’ spirit inherent in COB.”
