It was a promising season for Rockets Under 16 Premier team with a young group gaining valuable experience and in line for a play off place before the season came to an abrupt end.

Coach Bradshaw was dealt a blow on the eve of the season with the loss of Abdullah Olajuwon who headed stateside for the next leg in his journey. This created opportunities for others to step forward in the gruelling Premier North League and after a slow start to the season the team relished the challenge as they went on a 6 game winning spree to reach the Christmas break with a 7&3 record.

The Christmas break slowed the young team down a little but they soon recovered and by the time back to back victories in Newcastle and Edinburgh were completed the squad held a 12 & 7 record and were sitting in 5th place preparing for a post season push.

Coach Emanuel Bradshaw was pleased with the team’s progress, “We had identified this as a transitional year for the guys with so many first years in the squad. I was pleased to see players stepping up and finding their roles in the team.

We had lots of contributions from across the team and overall securing a play off spot was a really positive return. I must thank Richard Mulling for taking on the Team Managers role and ensuring off court the organisation of the team was taken care of.”
