The Rockets Under 16 Conference team contained an exciting group of players, many new to National League competition.

The season objectives were to ensure the players and team learnt how to compete at this new level of play, whilst developing their skill sets and understanding of the game.

Head Coach Steve Dudley was joined by Coach Daniele Brunetti and an initial large squad of hopeful players was trimmed down to ensure consistency whilst maintaining competition for game day selection.

There was early season promise as the team competed well. A 3&1 record in early November gave optimism as the players showed glimpses of their potential before a tough spell of games around Christmas saw the team slip in the league table.

The players showed good character in responding and were gaining good experience without being able to produce a full 40 minute performance.

Every game saw the team produce excellent spells of play and Coach Steve Dudley was pleased that the players showed great maturity during the campaign, “ The team never stopped playing hard all season. It is one thing maintaining intensity when winning but to continue to do so in losing situations shows lots about the character and maturity of the young players.

I believe the team grew as young men during the season in what got several of the team was their first experience of National League. Competition. The players now have a solid foundation to make their next steps in the season ahead.

I must thank Gundula and Mike for their fantastic organisation as team managers and the parents who were persistent in supporting their sons and the team all season!”
